Vibrant Life was started in 1980 by Jean Ross and Karl Loren, husband and wife, as the business name for their activities selling Amway vitamins -- Nutralite. For a few years the business name was used for that activity, but gradually they decided to add other products besides Amway products, and eventually they discontinued their sales of Amway products. No criticism of Amway intended here.

Early in this period they got heavily involved in another Multi Level Marketing company, Royal Nutrition, which was then, and still is, selling a type of vitamin formula called an "oral chelation" formula. Although the Royal Nutrition oral chelation was and is a good product, Jean and Karl found that they were very successful selling the product to individual consumers, but they were not successful in building a group of distributors, and thus they were never very successful with Royal Nutrition, the MLM company.

After a short period of this they decided to "go out on their own," and went to a laboratory to have their own unique formula of "oral chelation" vitamins manufactured. That was the beginning of the current period of Vibrant Life's existence.
